Tiny Tales from Alyce's Weekly Wonders
Oh lord, what a week it has been! Hello everyone, It’s Alyce! I’m going to be 8 months old this coming week! Can you believe it? There’s been so much going on, and I've had the best time ever!
First off, let me tell you about my new favorite snack! My mom discovered this amazing treat called coconut milk frozen yogurt. She makes it just for me, and it’s so yummy! It's fresh and frozen, which makes it perfect for these summer days. Every time I have it, I feel like I'm on a little vacation right at home.
Speaking of home, I’ve been having tons of fun with my dad in the yard. He waters the plants, and I get to watch and giggle as the water sprays everywhere. It’s like our own little water park! And when I’m with my mom in the kitchen, it’s always a new adventure. She lets me help (well, as much as a 7-month-old can), and I love discovering new things with her.
Now, here’s something big: I’ve figured out how to get on all fours! The only catch is...I can only go backwards for now. I know, I know, going forward will come soon, but for now, I’m having fun exploring my backwards world. It’s like a whole new way to see things and it makes diaper changes a bit more fun!
And guess what? Dapper and I have become best friends forever (BFFs)! He’s my little gentle giant. So cute and lovable! We’re the same height when I stand next to him, which makes him a bit scared. But don’t worry, I’m gentle too, and we always have a great time together. He’s always there to keep me company, and I just adore him.
This week has been filled with so many discoveries and moments of joy. I can’t wait to see what next week brings. More adventures, more fun, and more love!
Be well and love life.
With lots of baby giggles and hugs,
Alyce 💕
We Got Hate (Feedback)!
Hello, Vilhelmians!
Last week, we touched on a topic that sparked quite a bit of discussion. Who knew that wanting to confirm you’re the biological parent when doctors said you couldn’t have kids would draw so much attention? We truly appreciate everyone who shared their thoughts, whether supportive or critical.
Let’s take a moment to revisit why we started the Vilhelm Newsletter and what it means to "Vilhelm." Our goal is to live authentically and share our journey without being constrained by others' expectations. It’s about embracing our own path and encouraging others to do the same.
When we write, we share our perspectives, knowing not everyone will agree—and that’s okay. We welcome open discussions and diverse viewpoints.
Kat and I collaborate on this newsletter every week, making decisions together about what to share. Do we dive into every gritty detail? Not always. Like any couple, we have our disagreements. Discussing the DNA test with Kat wasn’t easy—she was understandably upset. But after the initial emotions settled, she took the time to process everything, and we were able to have an open and honest conversation. It wasn’t just about the test; it was about our shared goals and concerns. Moving past that moment of tension strengthened our relationship, deepening our connection and reinforcing our commitment to sharing our lives with you. We’re grateful to have over 70+ people on Substack and YouTube joining us on this journey.
Too often, people hide what they’re truly going through, whether it’s about health, finances, or other personal struggles. But how can others offer support if they don’t know what you’re facing? That’s why we believe in being open about these issues—it fosters understanding and builds a supportive community.
Writing each week is a process, and there have been times we thought about skipping a week. But it’s become a habit we both enjoy, and it’s our way of staying connected with you.
When it comes to feedback, we always remember that in life, there will always be people who support you and those who try to bring you down or see things only from their point of view. And again, that’s okay. Just keep your eye on the prize and keep moving forward.
We’ll continue to be transparent and address a variety of topics, even if they’re sometimes controversial. Life is full of different perspectives, and we’re here to share ours. Just wait until we dive into child discipline from a Jamaican vs. Czech perspective!
Thank you for being part of our community. We deeply value your support and feedback.
Woof Woof! 🐾
Bonjour, les amis! Boujee and Dapper here, your favorite French bulldogs with a flair for the dramatic and a nose for adventure! This week has been nothing short of incroyable, and we're here to spill the kibble on all the delightful happenings.
Ah, Auntie Sheryl! Just hearing her name makes our tails wag faster than a Frenchman running late for a baguette sale. We've been on a little vacation to her place, and let us tell you, it's like going to a five-star doggy resort. Ooooh, the love we have for her is inexplicable! She spoils us rotten with belly rubs, gourmet treats, and more cuddles than you can shake a stick at. While lounging on her comfy carpet and basking in her affection, we couldn't help but miss our little Alyce. That adorable human pup has a way of making us smile, even when she's not around. But alas, we knew we'd be back home soon enough to shower her with all the doggy kisses she can handle.
Dad, the hero of our household, returned from the farmers market this week with a bounty of fresh fruit. You know what that means? Snack time for us! There's nothing like the sweet taste of strawberries and the crunch of apples to make a dog’s day. We might have snuck a few extra bites when no one was looking, but can you blame us? We're French bulldogs with refined palates, after all.
Now, the pièce de résistance of our week – Boujee’s birthday! Oui, oui, Boujee turned the big 5, and it was nothing short of a grand celebration. Kat, our wonderful human mom, went all out. There were balloons, presents, and a sign that screamed “Joyeux Anniversaire, Boujee!” The whole family gathered for a little ceremony, and it was absolutely ecstatic. Boujee got showered with gifts fit for a queen. We danced, we barked, and we indulged in treats until our bellies were full and our hearts were happy.
As we sit here, reflecting on this fabulous week, we can’t help but feel grateful. Auntie Sheryl’s love, Alyce’s giggles, Dad’s market finds, and Kat’s thoughtful birthday surprises – life as Boujee and Dapper is pretty magnifique. So, until next time, keep your tails wagging and your noses sniffing. Adventure is always just around the corner, especially when you’re a French bulldog with a zest for life.
Au revoir, les amis!
